West Virginia is one of the wildest states in the Union, with some of the coolest geography and most beautiful forests. This doesn’t mean the fun stops with camping season, though. This month, there are plenty of delightful ways to have some holiday fun in West Virginia with the whole family.
If you want to stick to your WV-roots for Christmas, you’re in luck: the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine is hosting an “Appalachian Coal Town Christmas” on Friday, December 4th. Take an underground mine tour, ride in a horse-drawn carriage, make your own tree ornaments, and roast chestnuts (a.k.a. marshmallows) on an open fire.
Or, if you’re just in the mood to be amazed by a holiday spectacle of lights, you should pack up the family and come over to Bluefield City Park for their annual Holiday of Lights Festival. Walk or take a hayride through their 40+ acres of holiday-lit grounds while enjoying good music and warm drinks.
And finally, check out Hinton’s Annual Christmas Bazaar and Parade on Saturday, December 5th. Get all the best in local entertainment, crafts, and products, all with a friendly holiday theme. This isn’t just one of our favorite places for holiday fun in West Virginia – it’s also a great place for finding that perfect gift!
