If you could stay up for two days straight and do whatever you wanted, what would it be? Recently, a certain set of gamers stayed up for more than 48 hours to set a Guinness World Record by driving the Ford GT in Forza Motorsport 6.
The five gamers, Cara Scott from the U.K., Helene Cressot from France, Johaness Knapp from Germany, Andrea Lorenzo Facchinetti from Italy, and Jesus Sicilia Sanchez from Spain drove a virtual Ford GT through the La Sarthe circuit that is used for the Le Mans 24 Hours.
With a combined total of 3,015 laps and 41,004 kilometers, the gamers drove for 48 hours, 29 minutes, and 21 seconds, achieving a record for the “longest video marathon on a racing game.”
“They did an amazing job. Just like driving at the real Le Mans, this achievement required extreme levels of concentration, attention to detail, and most importantly endurance – because they had to keep going for twice as long as we did,” said Ford Chip Ganassi Racing driver Stefan Mücke, who competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship in the Ford GT, and started the virtual race.
The gamers survived for two days on power naps, energy drinks, and sweets.
Do you enjoy playing video games in your spare time? If so, be sure to give Forza Motorsport 6 a try so you can drive the Ford GT.
