The Ford F-150 Raptor is a high-performance, off-road pickup designed for the most adventurous drivers, which makes it all the more exciting that Ford just unveiled the Air Force fighter jet Ford F-150 Raptor, which landed on the tarmac at AirVenture Oshkosh.
We’ve seen some pretty impressive custom workups in the past, but none can match the sheer velocity brought by the fighter jet-inspired Ford F-150 Raptor. The model is based on the Air Force’s F-22 Raptor fighter jet, a plane designed for speed, agility, and lethality.
The Ford design team and Ford Performance crew worked together to create the model, after which the one-of-a-kind Ford F-150 Raptor was sold at auction for a total of $300,000. All proceeds went to the Young Eagles, a group that aims to get youth involved in flight.
The winner of the fighter jet-inspired F-150 Raptor was Gary Ackerman, a fitting purchase considering he serves as the Honorary Commander/Ambassador for the United States Air Force’s F-22 Squadron.
“Our job – both in the air and on the ground – is to intimidate the competition,” said Melvin Betancourt, Ford design manager. “The money we raised will enable Young Eagles to reach for the skies as well.”
We here at Mountaineer Ford can’t wait to see what Ford comes up with next!
